"Let me talk to Auntie Ashleigh"

There is nothing that makes me happier then to hear those words from Haley - "Mommy, let me talk to Auntie Ashleigh"...

Anyone who knows me, knows I don't mind talking for long periods of time on the phone. Of course, I love to keep in good touch with my friends and family. There is no person I enjoy talking to on the phone more then Haley, my 3 year old niece - also known as my dear friend Keri's three year old daughter. Yes, three going on thirteen. The topics and chatted during a phone conversation with a child on the phone is second-to-none!

Me: So what did you do at Maria's [day-care] today Haley...
Haley: We didn't play outside..
Me: Ohhh.. because of the snow?
Haley: But I wanted to play outside.

Me: Ohh, well maybe tomorrow you & Mommy will..
Haley: Ya

[mommy says in the background, we'll have to get some carrots for the snowman]
Haley agrees.
Me: What did you have for dinner tonight?
Haley: Chicken and Salad

Me: Reeeally, was it good..
Haley: Yaaaa..Well I had spaghetti-o's..

Me: Oh, you're a lucky girl..
Haley: Yaa..

She is just the best, it's so fun when she carries a chat with you. I want to be a kid again. I cannot wait until we are blessed with such innocent little minds in our home. They are so much fun!

My lesson this past month.. listen to your kids, they are so much smarter then adults give them credit for. They absorb so much information, they know how your feeling [and usually try to feel how you feel] and they can pick up the things that are affecting you. Adults are their models.
I love when Haley does things Keri does. On New Years Eve she was such a ham. Dale was out front of the house, and Keri opened the door and yelled out to Dale "Sweetie"  to get his attention, Haley instantly repeats in a loud voice "Sweetie" - trying to get daddy's attention from outside. ADORABLE. I then melt.

Anyways, it's been a long day - took me almost 2 hours to get home from work tonight. Needless to say, it's been a long day [12 hour shift + 3 hours of commuting] so I am ready for bed.

Goodnight, sleeptight - don't let the bed bugs bite!
